Internet advertising revenue in the U.S. totaled $6.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009, an increase of 13.8 percent from the 2009 third-quarter total of $5.5 billion, and an increase of 2.6 percent from the 2008 fourth-quarter total of $6.1 billion.―The record $6.3 billion spent on internet advertising in the fourth quarter of 2009, while certainly aided by seasonal demand, is a strong indication that the worst of the economic impact on internet advertising is over and that the seeds of growth have been planted.
